One of the continuing requirements for coaching youth sports in SFYBL, SF Rec & Park, and most other youth sports programs is that adults working with youths be fingerprinted.

SFYBL has undergone a number of changes in it’s organizational and partnership structure within the last year. One result of that is that all SFYBL coaches must now be fingerprinted through SFYBL in order coach this year and for the foreseeable future…even if they were fingerprinted through SFPAL last year or in years past. To that end, SFYBL ran fingerprinting during the registration sessions with SF Rec & Park conducting the actual fingerprinting.

Unfortunately, the process was not as smooth and expeditious as we had hoped. We apologize for that. This is our first year with this new process, and all parties involved did not anticipate the hurdles faced with fingerprinting.

Because the fingerprinting process has been rather sluggish, we are announcing that we will now have at least four more dates on which we will conduct fingerprinting for SFYBL coaches:

Tuesday, Feb. 15, 5-8 PM
Thursday, Feb. 17, 5-8 PM
Tuesday, Feb. 22, 5-8 PM
Tuesday, Feb. 24, 5-8 PM

All of these sessions will be held at McLaren Lodge.

In order to mitigate potential long waits we are asking coaches who still need to be fingerprinted to make an appointment on any of the four above dates. Appointment time windows are in 30 minute increments (e.g. 5:00 – 5:30, 5:30 – 6:00, 6:00 – 6:30, etc.). We plan on scheduling only 3-4 coaches per thirty minute time slot to prevent backlogs.

We had the first of three SFYBL team registration dates this past Saturday (Feb. 5). We registered 77 teams on Saturday and look forward to registering even more on our last two registration dates: Tuesday, Feb. 8, 6-9 PM and Thursday, Feb. 9, 6-9 PM at McLaren Lodge.

These dates are for people registering teams only. If you don’t have a team, SF Rec & Park is registering individual players. So far, they have registered 230+ players.

The official SFYBL 2011 roster and Waiver forms are posted to the “Forms” page.

Team registration for the SFYBL 2011 season is just around the corner. Players who do not have a team, can register individually through the SF Rec & Park site.
