Registration-Rosters Update

Team Registration Coaches:

As you know our team registration closed February 2. Thank all of you who have entered your players online!

At present our league consists of about 2,000 kids playing on 152 teams in seven divisions.

By now each coach of a team which has made online player entries should have received a copy of their roster as we have it. Please take a moment to verify the information on your roster is correct. If you have a player who doesn’t appear on the roster we sent you will need to add them online. If a player is not on the roster we have and/or we do not have a waiver for them….they cannot participate in SFYBL practices and games.

You can add players through April 14, but you will need to use the online player entry system for each player you add as well as submit a completed and signed 2012 SFYBL waiver for each player you enter.

Practice Fields

Several coaches and parents have inquired about their team’s practice field location, day, and time.

SF Rec & Park just closed Spring field requests last week. They have close to 2,000 field requests from various leagues (e.g. SFYBL, Parish League, high school baseball, etc.). It’s going to take them about three weeks to process all requests.

Field permits will be given to us on March 2, and we will immediately begin distributing them to all teams in our league who have completed our registration process (which includes entering all your players in our online player entry system).

Practices start on March 5.

Uniform Ordering

The deadline to place orders for player and parent uniforms was February 9th. We are going to extend that by a few days to accommodate those teams who did not see our previous mentions of this as well as teams who did not order extra jerseys for additional players and/or coaches.

If you have not ordered jerseys yet or need to order additional ones you can as long as your order form and check reaches us by this Saturday, Feb. 18. Order and check ($35 per jersey) should be sent to:

SFYBL
c/o Chet Spirlin
33 Samoset St.
San Francisco, CA. 94110

If you did not place a uniform order, and you are a K-3 team, your team was assigned a color and sizing based on the age level of your team. For PONY league teams that opted to buy uniforms, they will arrive the week of March 12th and you will be contacted as to how to go about picking them up. For K-3 teams, uniforms will arrive the week of March 19th and you will be contacted as to how to go about picking them up. Please do not request to order additional uniforms for added players or coaches or parents. We cannot accommodate these requests.

Also, please note that as stated previously at the coaches meetings, registration, and the uniform order form: JERSEYS DO NOT COME WITH PANTS!! Coaches, you will need to make sure your players have matching baseball pants to play in.

No-Play Date Requests – IMPORTANT

Contrary to the misleading no-play date text area (since redacted) on the hard copy team roster forms you turned in at team registration, all no-play date requests need to be done electronically. Online no-play date submissions are the only source the league scheduler will be referencing when trying to accommodate teams’ no-play date requests.

Each team gets one no-play date. You can request more, but one is all the scheduler can guarantee. No games will be scheduled on April 7 (Saturday), so there’s no need to list that date.

We have emailed all team registration coaches the URL for making your no-play date request (please check your email!)

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. It is simply impractical for the league scheduler to sort through 158 teams worth of handwritten submissions…when electronic counterparts can be sorted, grouped, and filed in a fraction of the time with far less of chance of getting misread or misplaced.

Also, 39 league teams still have not entered any of their roster information online yet. If you’re a coach for one or more of those teams, please take a 15-20 minutes to enter your players online.

Online Roster Entry – Team Registrations

Thus far, 40% of the teams who registered at team registrations have not entered any players online.

This is a reminder that coaches for all teams who did team registration MUST enter their roster online as stated at the registration sessions and on this site on several previous occasions.

Your team is not fully registered until your players have been entered online and you will not get a practice field permit until your players are entered online.

If you have misplaced the info given to you at team registration on how to do this, please contact teamregistration@sfybl.com to get further details.

How to Add Players

Coaches: You can add players to your roster up through April 14, 2012.

To do this you will need to do a few things:

1) enter the player online through our player entry system (please email teamregistration@sfybl.com if you have questions about entering your players online)

2) send in a completed and signed SFYBL 2012 Waiver.

3) if the player is in the t-ball through 3rd grade divisions, remit payment.

If at all possible, we prefer to receive additional waivers electronically either by scanning and then emailing or faxing them.

waiver email: waivers@sfybl.com
waiver fax: 415-480-6144

Checks should be payable to “San Francisco Youth Baseball” and sent to:

SFYBL
c/o Chet Spirlin
33 Samoset St.
San Francisco, CA 94110-5345

If you don’t have access to a scanner or fax machine, you can snail mail the completed and signed waiver to the above address.

Team Registration in Progress

We had the first of three team registration sessions this past Saturday with 84 teams registering. We have two team registration sessions remaining:

Tuesday, Jan. 31, 6-9 PM @ SF County Fair Bldg. rec room
Thursday, Feb. 2, 6-9 PM @ SF County Fair Bldg. auditorium

Before coming to register your team, please make sure you have all your paperwork in order: a hard copy roster with at least nine players on it for t-ball teams and at least eleven players for 1st through PONY divisions teams; completed and signed 2012 SFYBL waivers for each player on your roster; and payment.

Reminder to coaches: you must enter each of your players online to complete your team’s registration. Only a fraction of the 84 teams who registered Saturday have done that. You will not receive your practice field permit until you have entered your players online. Please see previous post on this topic for more info.

PONY Divisions – Age Cut-Off Revision

In an effort preserve existing team integrity during this transitional year from grade-based divisions to PONY League age-based divisions, the SFYBL board has decided to alter the age cut-off date to December 31 (from April 20) for this season only.

The age cut-off dates for in-season play are now:

Mustang: May 1, 2001 – December 31, 2003
Bronco: May 1, 1999 – December 31, 2001
Pony: May 1, 1997 – December 31, 1999

Again, these dates are for this transitional year season only. Summer tournament teams and the 2013 season on will use April 30 as the age cut-off date.
